Interior Design Graphics class - Assistant Professor Cyndi Parker
Assistant Professor Cyndi Parker's students were recently able to see first-hand the construction of a new house in its rough-in phase. This is especially valuable because our freshmen Interior Design students have been learning how to read and draw floor plans throughout the semester and a construction site visit like this allows them to see the real-world application of what they are putting on paper!
They have also been learning the basics of construction materials and methods, so seeing these elements first-hand reinforces that instruction by helping them connect terminology and drawings to physical materials, structural systems, and the sequence of construction. This exposure strengthens their understanding and gives a greater meaning to the concepts they are learning at this early stage of their design education!
